How The Train Came To Sri Lanka

     With the arrival of The Brits to Ceylon, Almost everything changed in the country.Then they proceeded to make Sri Lanka a permanent home of theirs.

     As a result of it, a variety of economic crops were established in the country.

       They mainly grew TEA and COFFEE in the hill country.

Later they were successful.

       But the main problem which they had to face was the lack of proper system of transporting the crop from the hill country to Colombo.

       Even though they had already used different modes of transport,But  they did not have an effective mode of transport.

         Ultimately,they introduced the excellent Rail transportation technology (from the Great Britain) for Ceylon.

         As a result,the Railway has been the most important and essential means of transport in the Present Sri Lanka for over 160 years.
